Why we do this

Science spreads when people hear about it.

  1. A discovery is published
  2. Explained well, it reaches more people
  3. Some get curious and start working on it
  4. The paper keeps finding readers

Across our historical cases, many papers moved up in citation percentile within their own subfield. Normalized by field, the rise was typically 45–80%.

How do citations work?
Citations=Impressionswhat we work on×Conversion rateyour paper and its field

The more people see a paper, the more likely it is to be cited. Impressions widen the pool of potential readers.

Conversion depends on the paper itself (quality, field, clarity) and on its context (trends, awards, timing). We work on impressions; your paper does the rest.

Q&A

Questions, answered.

Still unsure? Write to [email protected] or talk to a consultant.

Which papers should I add?

In our experience, 5–10 papers work best.

A good mix:

2–3 of your most-cited papersThey catch researchers' attention most easily, and readers often go on to your other papers.
2–5 papers close to a milestonePapers that could soon lift your h-index or become WoS Highly Cited Papers (the top 1% by citations in their field and year). Often they are just one or two citations away.
1–3 recent papersNew papers, especially in strong journals, reviews and methods papers.

During the campaign, the system shifts weight towards the papers readers respond to best, or you can set the weights yourself in My Plans → Paper Allocation. Either way, your plan goes as far as it can.

Not sure which to choose? Adding all your papers works too. Over time your most popular papers naturally draw more clicks, and the campaign puts more weight behind them.

Add them in My Papers. You can change the selection at any time.

Does the price depend on how many papers I add?

No. The price is set by the exposure you buy, not by the number of papers.

  • Adding more papers shares that exposure between them.
  • More papers also give our algorithm more room: it combines them and bids in real time based on readers' clicks, to get the most from your budget.
Can I add an arXiv preprint?

Yes.

In fast-moving fields such as computer science and AI, much important work is only on arXiv, and you can add it like any other paper.

Many preprints outside top conferences are later published in a journal. When that happens, merge the preprint into the journal version of the paper, so their citations count together.

How do I know the new citations come from your service?

By the change in your citation rate.

Our citations are natural: more of the right researchers read your paper, and some of them cite it. So the clearest sign is in the totals, where our growth adds to your natural citation rate.

  • Compare how fast your citations grow now with how fast they grew before.
  • The system also records your citation curve during the campaign. Compared with papers in the same field that had no campaign, the difference is usually clear.

Allow for the delay: over 45% of new citations arrive 6–10 months after researchers first see your paper.

Is this legitimate?

Yes.

Researchers and lab PIs promote their own work all the time: at conferences, on social media, by writing to colleagues. Helping more people discover your research is a normal part of academic life, and it is the work we do.

Our company has worked with journals and publishers for over 10 years and has served more than 10,000 journals, so we know exactly where the line on research misconduct lies.

Several of our full-time colleagues have handled research-ethics cases as research integrity officers at publishers and universities, and hold Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) certificates.

How long does it take to see results?

New citations usually take 6–10 months to appear. Signs of interest show up much sooner.

A citation needs a new paper. A researcher who finds your paper runs their experiments, writes their paper and submits it. It then goes through peer review (two rounds on average), is accepted and in press, gets published, and is finally indexed by databases such as Web of Science and Google Scholar, which add their own delay.

Over 45%of new citations arrive 6–10 months after researchers first see your paper.
Some arrive soonerUsually from papers that were nearly finished: the authors met your paper during peer review or before their camera-ready version, or cited it in a conference paper, a book or a preprint.

In the meantime, you can watch the results build in five ways:

  1. 1–2 days
Your dashboardImpressions, the researchers reached and the emails sent, updated every day.
  2. 1–7 days
Replies from researchersResearchers' replies to your one-to-one scholar emails (an optional channel).
  3. About 30 days
Your journal's statisticsViews and reads of your paper on the journal's site, usually reported weekly or monthly.
  4. 30–50 days
Third-party metricsServices such as Altmetric show views and downloads across the web.
  5. 2–48 months
Citation databasesThe real change in your citation count on Web of Science, Google Scholar and Crossref.
